After researching what ‘Grandpa’ did in the war, many families feel a need to visit the locations where their ancestors served or sadly died. It is my ambition to tell as many stories as possible of the individual men and women who served in the Great War of 1914-18. Part of this story telling is locating where the events of their lives took place. I can help you in this quest by consulting unit War Diaries, written histories and locating contemporary maps, which will enable me to produce a self-guided tour itinerary for your visit or even accompany you on your special weekend away in France or Flanders.
Forthcoming Tours
From April 7th, I was away for a week to front a tour of ten tourists to Normandy for a comprehensive visit to the 6th June 1944 Normandy D-Day landing beaches. You can read all about it by clicking on the Normandy article link below.
This will be followed on May 19th by a small party tour to the French sector of the Western Front, taking in the 1916 events at Verdun, the 1917 Nivelle Offensive on the Chemin Des Dames and the 1918 signing of the Armistice at Compiegne. – A full report will appear on this site.
